I’m a Melbourne-based piano teacher, accompanist, arranger and composer.
With over 20 years teaching experience, I hold both teaching (TMusA) and performing (AMusA) diplomas from the Australian Music Examinations Board and a BSc(hons) in Mathematics from University College London.
I'm also a member of the Victorian Music Teachers’ Association and founder of Flying Ivories Music.
At my home studio in Northcote, I teach students of all ages and abilities. I am also a visiting instrumental music teacher at two schools.
I aim to inspire a love of music whilst developing healthy technical and music literacy skills.
I believe choice of repertoire plays a crucial part in sustaining students’ interest, and I encourage students to make requests.
If I can’t source an ability-appropriate arrangement of the music a student wants to play, I will write one.
I am an experienced freelance accompanist and regularly play for AMEB and VCE exams, eisteddfods, auditions, choirs, musicals, school ensembles and instrumental teachers’ studio concerts.
My back catalogue includes SSA arrangements for choir, and Preliminary - Grade 4 level arrangements for pianists.
Some of my piano arrangements are currently available for digital download at Sheetmusicplus.com
More titles will become available online over the coming months or please feel free to contact me with your inquiry.
My original works are miniatures for piano, written to teach technical and expressive skills in an imaginative and appealing way.
My first collection "Notes on a Neighbourhood" was published in October 2020 and is available at Forsyths Music in the UK and from my online shop in Australia. Digital versions are available from Blackrock Music.
